Pastor David has served several Virginia United Methodist churches throughout his ministry and was appointed to Miles Memorial UMC in 2016. He is a graduate of The University of Virginia and holds masters and doctoral degrees from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. His wife, Jannette Clavez, is the Minister of Congregational Care at Community UMC in Virginia Beach. Their daughters are Grace, an Occupational Therapist in Raleigh, NC and Louise, a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Kentucky. Pastor David enjoys the outdoors, travel, reading, biblical studies, and their kitty cat, Stella.
Lynne Henderson joined the staff of Miles in March 2003 as Minister of Music. Born in Mebane, NC to a family of faith and church musicians, she continues to pursue Psalms 100:2-3: Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.
On Sundays during typical worship services you will find guitars, strings, percussion, woodwinds, handbells and voices lifting their instruments with joy!
Married to Claude Henderson, she has 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Cyndie originally hails from Winchester, VA. She married her husband Bruce and moved to Norfolk in 1981.
They have two adult children, a daughter Natalie Swartz, a pediatric occupational therapist and a son Ian a Petty Officer 1st Class in the US Navy. Cyndie and Bruce have one grandson, Leo who is the light of his grandparent’s eyes and an English springer spaniel, Boomer.
Cyndie joined the staff of Miles Memorial in November 2009. She is an active member of Christ UMC in Norfolk.
Gregg coordinates with the church Trustees and staff in addressing the maintenance needs of the church building and parsonage. He has an extensive background in heating & air conditioning and utility construction. Gregg is a long-time Norfolk resident and avid motorcycling enthusiast.
