The Board of Trustees advanced a proposal that was approved by the Church Council to completely renovate the Church Kitchen, bringing it up to code in every respect and rendering it a more user-friendly space for the scores of persons who give of themselves in service there. This effort has been a long time in coming and has been advanced to this point through the financial gifts of numerous church members over the years who have wanted to see such a project come to fruition. Among those persons, our late friend Jean Shepherd made a generous bequest to the church which is being used, along with many others, to get this project underway. To complete the renovation, we are making an immediate appeal for additional contributions from our members and friends.
Work on the renovation is progressing with hopes of a completion before fall activities resume. We have met our initial goal of $78,000 thanks to the faithful giving of members and friends of Miles. It is not too late to give to this project. With any construction project comes a good possibility of additional cost due to unforeseen circumstances. You are encouraged to help meet the unforeseen.
Our church kitchen is central to so many ministries that happen here – the weekly community hot breakfast each Wednesday, weekly children and youth suppers, receptions for various church events, UMMen dinner meetings and golf tourney luncheons, holiday celebrations, home-schoolers lunches – the list goes on and on.
