Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoebox filling is a highlight in our church’s advent season. OCC is a nondenominational program that introduces children around the world to the Good News of Jesus and his love. The program begins with the gift of a filled shoebox to each child. It is not unusual for the shoebox to be the first gift ever received by many of the children. Many heart warming stories of shoe box recipients as well as more information can be found
Boxes are filled with age appropriate toys, hygiene products, and school supplies. Written material explaining the Good News in the child’s native language is also included in each shoebox.
Traditionally, Miles adults and youth gather together In the evening to share a meal and fill boxes.
This year National Collection Week for shoeboxes will be November 16 – 23, 2020.
Shoeboxes, directions for filling the boxes, and dates and hours boxes are available will be posted by October 15.
Miles is currently planning for how to protect our packers’ health while still participating in Operation Christmas Child during Covid 19. More information will be posted by October 15 at the latest.
